Contest is open to girls between the ages of 9-17 years old. Entrants must have a parent or legal guardian permission to enter the competition.
SHORT STORY/POETRY – THEME
(1000 minimum word count to 2500 maximum word count)
For the 2024 contest, the short story should include EYEGLASSES & CHOCOLATE CANDY.
The stories may be any genre so long as it includes both items listed above. Keep in mind this is a wide range, so let your imagination flow with the ink.
You may begin submitting on January 1, 2024. The contest deadline is February 29, 2024. Entry form will be disabled on 2/29/24 at 10pm (cst). Be aware that if you miss the deadline, we will not be accepting any submissions via email.
Contest entries will be blind judged by other writers/authors. Names of the judges will be revealed when they are set. Entries will be judged on the criteria set on their judging forms. Written feedback will be given on all winning entries.
Winners will be announced on March 31, 2024
Ages 9-11 -Story $25, Poetry $15,
Ages 12-14 -Story $50, Poetry $25
Ages 15-17 –Story $75, Poetry $50
Winners in each category will receive a printed certificate and an interview.
Honorable Mentions will also receive a certificate.
